You’re right: you don’t have to go to Finland or Norway to see this incredible natural phenomenon. Machinac is charming, pleasant, and slow, and no motor vehicle is allowed. Instead, you can travel by horse-drawn carriage and bike. Don’t miss a hike around Arch Rock in McKinsey State Park, a brick of Joan’s (there is a full festival dedicated to the staff here every August and a walk on Main Street. You are bound to feel the recharge while visiting.)

It is one of the most secluded places in the continental United States so don’t expect to see many other tourists. In fact, residents have been living here for about 12 years Zarbiz, Nevada. For some, that’s reason enough to visit. The nature here is virtually obscure which means you are bound to see some wonderful sights. Go out on the road, fish for trout in the Zarbiz River, or plan a day drive on the Rubis Route. Walk down the dirt road through the middle of this old mining town and you’ll find two saloons, a trading post, a gas station and a post office.

Drive the 50-mile Going-to-the-Sun Road, the only way to cross the entire park, and see incredible sights like Lake McDonald’s and the Trail of the Cedar among others. The Rocky Mountains are just as glorious as they say and the park is so big (despite having 3 million visitors a year) you will feel one with nature. Sounds weird but listen to us … on Kalaupapa Island Molokai One of the most remote places in Hawaii and said to have some of the best sunsets in the whole state. Long ago, lepers were segregated and detained by law here, giving this beautiful place a sad but fascinating history. Estimates say the colony grew to about 8,000 people at its height. There are hiking and biking trails around the former colony that offer stunning views of the Hawaiian coastline but you can only go with a guided tour conducted by Damien Tour LLC. If you ever feel like you have escaped to a remote island, Dried Tortugas National Park Maybe for you. Located about 70 miles west of Key West, the island chain consists of about 100-square miles and consists of 7 small islands, and Fort Jefferson, one of the largest castles of the 19th century in the United States, has amazing snorkeling. Area, lots of history to keep wet, and lots of wildlife to spot. The park is only accessible by ferry or seaplane (try Seaplane Adventure), so be sure to book in advance. They offer full and half day tours.
